The Artist
Queeny Rebel Empire
Resident artist · Mix Media Artist
The work of Queeny Rebel Empire captures the adrenaline of the hero’s journey, blending personal memoir with public history. My artistic impulse began early: at four years old, I took my mother’s red lipstick to our cream-colored walls, creating rhythmic, chaotic marks that felt like a revelation. The trouble that followed that first "mural" eventually funneled into my life as a graffiti artist, where the name Queeny Rebel Empire first took root. While I have since moved from city walls to the canvas, the spirit of that original impulse remains. My formal education at the University of Toronto—specifically the mentorship of the late Professor Buller—bridged the gap between my rebellious roots and a disciplined exploration of abstraction and the human figure.
